Immortals Fenyx Rising

Action-Adventure Puzzle Platformer

Project Details

Immortals Fenyx Rising (originally known as Gods and Monsters) is an action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft. This is the first AAA professional project I worked on as a Junior Level Designer. I was one of the 3 level designers working on Hephaistos region.

Contributions

  • Owned and worked on multiple areas around Hephaistos from pre-production to beta. Designed the area with consideration of bread crumbing, fight encounters, player progression, discovery, puzzles, resource distribution and pacing

  • Worked with Level Artist on the looks and feel of the place while ensuring the quality level design. 

  • Find creative ways for players to use their skills and abilities learned to solve puzzle challenges

Puzzle Design

We were given gameplay ingredients and told how to use them. From there, we used a visual scripting tool to hook up and create the many puzzles we have in the world.

Designing the puzzle with the thought to either break up existing knowledge of how the mechanic works or deliver it in a form of a challenge. 

Environmental Storytelling

With automatons having different poses. I took the opportunity to add little things in the game that people can find by exploring. Player discovery is always very rewarding.
